Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Seoullit (“we,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit seoullit.com (the “Site”).

Seoullit is run by two people, a Korean husband and a British wife. You can read more about us on our About page.

Information we collect

  • Comments. The comment form asks for your name, your email address and, if you like, a website. Your name (linked to your website, if you give one) and your comment are shown publicly; your email address is not. WordPress also stores the IP address and browser details (user agent) sent with each comment, which helps us check comments for spam.
  • Contact form. The contact form asks for your first and last name, your email address and your message. When you send it, the form also tells us which page you sent it from. Separately, the form plugin (WPForms) tells our server whether the form came into view and for how long, even if you do not send it.
  • Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we automatically receive standard log data such as your IP address, browser type, device, referring pages, and general location, along with the cookie data described below.
  • Affiliate link clicks. When you click one of our affiliate links, the plugin that manages them (ThirstyAffiliates) records the click in our site’s database: the link, the page it was on and the time. It also records your IP address.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them to understand how the Site is used and to keep it working properly. Some are set by other companies whose services load on our pages. The main kinds are:

  • Analytics cookies. These help us see which articles are useful so we can improve them. Google Analytics sets them (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) when a page loads.
  • Advertising cookies. Google’s advertising code runs on our pages, and Google and its partners may set or read cookies when it does. The Advertising section below explains how to opt out.
  • Affiliate cookies. When you click an affiliate link, the retailer or affiliate network may set a cookie that lets them credit a purchase to us. This is what allows us to earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We don’t control these third-party cookies.
  • Comment cookies. If you tick “Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment” under the comment form, WordPress saves those details in cookies in your browser.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the Site may not work as well.

Advertising

We may display ads served by Google AdSense on parts of the Site. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to show you ads based on your visits to this Site and other sites on the internet.

Google’s advertising code is loaded on our pages. When it runs, Google and other third parties may place and read cookies in your browser, or use web beacons or your IP address, to collect information. Ads served through AdSense can also come from other ad networks that Google has certified, and those networks may use their own cookies. To see how Google uses this information, read How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info. If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK or Switzerland, Your Online Choices offers the same kind of opt-out.

Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

The Site does not show a cookie consent message yet. Google’s advertising code and Google Analytics still load when you visit, as described above. When we add a consent message, it will ask for your consent before advertising cookies are set wherever the law requires it, and we will update this page. Until then, you can block cookies in your browser or use the opt-out links above.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to measure traffic and understand what readers find helpful. It records the pages you view and how you use them: for example, how far you scroll, what you search for on the Site, and which links you follow to other sites or to a retailer. It also records your device, browser and approximate location. Google processes this data on our behalf. Google explains this in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Our Google Analytics tag is also set to detect an email address, phone number or postal address that you type into a form and send it to Google in hashed form. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s browser add-on.

Affiliate links

Seoullit contains affiliate links. When you click them and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. Your purchase happens entirely on the retailer’s site, under their own privacy policy and terms. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.

Our affiliate links currently go to Amazon. Once you follow one, Amazon may collect information directly from you and place or recognize cookies in your browser. Amazon handles that information under the Amazon.com Privacy Notice.

Other services that load on our pages

  • Hostinger, our hosting provider. Our pages load a script from Hostinger (cdn-reach.hostinger.com) that displays sign-up forms made with Hostinger Reach. None of our pages has such a form at the moment, so the script has nothing to display. Your browser still downloads it through Cloudflare’s network, so Cloudflare receives your IP address and browser details and may set a short-lived cookie for the hostinger.com domain. See Hostinger’s privacy policy.
  • Gravatar, a service run by Automattic. Next to each comment we show the commenter’s Gravatar picture, or a default image. When comments come into view, your browser loads these pictures from Gravatar’s servers (secure.gravatar.com), which receive your IP address. If you leave a comment, a string made from your email address (called a hash) is used to look up your picture. See Automattic’s privacy policy.
  • YouTube, a Google service. Where an article includes an embedded YouTube video, your browser loads the video player from YouTube (www.youtube.com) when you open that article. YouTube receives your IP address and may set or read cookies in your browser. See Google’s privacy policy.
  • WordPress.org. If your browser cannot display emoji, WordPress loads emoji images from WordPress.org’s servers (s.w.org).

How we use your information

  • To publish and manage comments you submit.
  • To reply to messages you send us.
  • To understand and improve the Site.
  • To keep the Site secure and working.
  • To fund the Site through ads and affiliate commissions.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Hostinger (our hosting provider) and Google Analytics process data on our behalf. The other companies and services named above (Google’s advertising services and the ad networks Google has certified, YouTube, Cloudflare, Automattic, WordPress.org and Amazon) receive data in the ways described and handle it under their own privacy policies.

Data retention

Comments and contact messages are kept as long as needed for the purpose they were sent, or until you ask us to remove them. Analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider’s settings.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, contact us through our Contact page and we’ll respond.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you can also withdraw any consent you give us at any time, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date above.
