Korean Sunscreen Price Per ml: What 14 Bottles Actually Cost
Two of the sunscreens below carry the same $28.00 list price. One of them came out cheapest per milliliter of the 14 I could price, and the other came out most expensive. The only thing standing between them is how much is inside the bottle.
The short version: we opened 18 Korean sunscreen listings at one retailer, Jolse, on 30 July 2026 and divided each price by the milliliters printed on the label. 14 of them produced a Korean sunscreen price per ml. At list price the figures ran from $0.280 to $0.560, a spread of exactly two times, and they put the bottles in a different order than the sticker prices did. The lowest sticker in the set, $16.00, wasn’t the cheapest sunscreen. Four listings produced no figure at all: three are sold by weight, and one page never prints a volume.
How do I work out a Korean sunscreen price per ml?
Divide the price by the milliliters on the label. That’s the whole calculation. The work is all in deciding which price and which milliliters, because a sunscreen has several of each.
How we counted the milliliters.
- One retailer, one day. Every figure below comes from Jolse, a Korean retailer that ships internationally, read on 30 July 2026 in a single session. Mixing retailers would have produced a table where the cheapest row was just whichever row I happened to catch on sale somewhere.
- Two prices per row, both as printed. Jolse shows a struck-through Price and a Discounted Price with its own percentage. I recorded both, in the US dollars the site displayed, and I didn’t convert anything.
- Volume from the label, as the listing prints it. Jolse puts the size in the product name, so 50ml means the 50 ml bottle and not a sibling with the same name.
- Nothing added. No shipping, no customs or duties, no coupon codes, no loyalty points. Those change what you pay, and none of them is a property of the bottle.
- Read twice inside the same shop. We took every price off the search listing and again off the product page, which are different templates, and all 18 matched. That confirms I copied the numbers correctly. It doesn’t confirm the price is the same for a shopper in another country, and I didn’t test that.
One switch needs explaining, because our own Korean sunscreen budget guide priced these bottles at YesStyle in mid July. We couldn’t repeat that here. YesStyle served our session in Korean won, so there was no US dollar list and sale pair to read, and the single dollar figure in the page data couldn’t be identified as one or the other. So the table is Jolse, where both prices are printed and labeled.
Our budget guide recorded Round Lab Birch Juice at about $17 at YesStyle on 18 July 2026, a figure that guide converted roughly from Korean won. Jolse listed the same 50 ml bottle at $28.00 twelve days later. Both readings are real, taken at different shops on different days, which is exactly why a price is only useful with a shop and a date attached. Our Anessa comparison read the same Jolse page for Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun on 25 July 2026 and recorded $18.00 and $12.60. Five days later we read $18.00 and $12.60 again. Two readings that agree are still only two readings, so I won’t call that a standing discount on the strength of it.

Where the sticker order and the per milliliter order disagree
COSRX Ultra-Light Invisible has the lowest list price in the set at $16.00, and it still isn’t the cheapest of the 14 per milliliter. It comes second, at $0.320, behind a bottle that costs $12.00 more.
The two ends of the table make it plainer. SKIN1004’s 100 ml Water-Fit Sun Serum and Round Lab’s 50 ml Birch Juice sunscreen both list at $28.00. Twenty-eight divided by 100 is $0.280. Twenty-eight divided by 50 is $0.560. It’s the same money for exactly double the unit price, and the sticker gives you no way to see that. We set out what that bottle is, and who it suits, in a full review of the Round Lab Birch Juice sunscreen.
Across all 14 the list figure runs from $0.280 to $0.560. That’s a spread of exactly two times, from one shop, on one day.
The discount column reorders things again. Jolse was running 15% to 35% off across these 14, and the depth isn’t even across brands. Rank the table by what was actually being charged and MISSHA’s 70 ml Waterproof Sun Milk climbs to second at $0.214, while Round Lab’s 30% cut lifts it off the bottom to thirteenth of 14 and hands last place to Abib at $0.400. Two rows are priced identically down to the cent, the Relief Sun original and the Aqua-fresh, so picking between those two is a question about texture rather than money, and the two are set against each other in Relief Sun versus Aqua-fresh.
The same serum in a bigger bottle came out 30 percent cheaper per milliliter
SKIN1004 sells Water-Fit Sun Serum in both sizes, so this is a clean test. The 50 ml lists at $20.00, which is $0.400 per milliliter. The 100 ml lists at $28.00, which is $0.280. Twice the product for 1.40 times the money, so 30 percent off the unit price at list, or 22 percent at the discounted prices, for the same formula.
The two-pack works the same way and shows its arithmetic even more plainly. Two single 50 ml Isntree Watery Sun Gels list at $24.40 each, so $48.80. The two-pack of the same bottles lists at $39.10. That’s $9.70 less for the same 100 ml, about 20 percent off the unit price.
A bigger bottle only saves you money if you finish it. Sunscreen has a shelf life and a period after opening, and we went through how to read both in our guide to sunscreen expiration dates. A 100 ml bottle you throw out half full cost you more per milliliter than the 50 ml would have. Buy the size you’ll get through.
Four listings had no per milliliter figure, so I left them out
This is where the calculation fails, and it failed on four of the 18 listings we opened.
| Sunscreen (links to the page we read) | On the label | List price | Price charged | Per ml |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dear, Klairs All-day Airy Sunscreen | 50 g | $21.00 | $14.70 (30% off) | not available |
| Purito Daily Soft Touch Sunscreen Stick | 20 g | $21.50 | $12.47 (42% off) | not available |
| Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sun Stick | 19 g | $25.00 | $21.25 (15% off) | not available |
| SKIN1004 Water-Fit Sun Serum dual pack | no volume printed | $30.00 | $21.99 (27% off) | not available |
Three of them are sold by weight. Grams are mass and milliliters are volume, and turning one into the other needs the density of the formula, which none of these labels prints. We’re not going to invent a density to make the sticks fit the table. The rule catches a tube as well as two sticks: Klairs sells its All-day Airy in a 50 g tube, so a product that looks like every other row here can’t join them. If you want the sticks compared on something other than price, that’s our sun stick guide.
The fourth one fails differently. SKIN1004’s Water-Fit dual pack lists at $30.00 and was being charged at $21.99, and the page never says how much sunscreen you get. Two bottles is the obvious guess, and I’m not going to divide by a guess.
Three brands we cover regularly, Tocobo, Torriden and Beplain, returned nothing at this retailer across two or three queries each, so they’re missing from the table rather than expensive in it. Pricing them somewhere else would have broken the one shop rule and made the ranking meaningless.
Am I actually going to spend less on the cheapest per milliliter?
Only if you use the bottle at the amount on the label, and that is what the research on this measures. An economic evaluation published in JAMA Dermatology in 2026 priced recommended sunscreen use, and it states why the unit price matters at all: “Previous studies have reported that the amount of sunscreen used decreased with increased unit price and that individuals underapply sunscreen.”[1] So the per milliliter figure measures how expensive it is to apply a full dose.
Their numbers are much larger than anything in my table. For sunscreens with similar ingredients and SPF ratings, they report the unit price varying by up to 17.5-fold across 3 sunscreens, a cost per application of $0.04 to $3.79 depending on wearing different combinations of typical clothing, and a year of recommended use costing between $39.28 and $1429.42, a 36-fold difference.[1] Their figures and mine aren’t measuring the same thing. They compared three selected products at an online retailer they don’t name, using 2025 prices, and we compared 14 listings at one Korean retailer on one day. Two times and 17.5-fold are answers to different questions.
Turning your own bottle into a monthly figure needs one more number, your dose, and both halves of that are already here. What a full application looks like has its own page, how much sunscreen to apply, and our sunscreen cost calculator takes a price and a bottle size and returns the cost per month at that dose. If you’re shopping the discount channels instead, the freshness rules are in our piece on buying cheap Korean sunscreen safely.
What the table changed for me is which number we read in the shop. If a sunscreen feels expensive, you ration it, and rationing it means applying less than the label amount. That’s the point where the price you paid stops being the useful figure. A bottle at $0.280 per milliliter and a bottle at $0.560 make that morning decision feel very different.
FAQ
How do I work out the price per ml of a sunscreen I already own?
Divide what you paid by the milliliters on the label. An $18.00 bottle holding 50 ml is $0.360 per milliliter. Use the price you actually paid rather than the list price, and write down the date, because the same bottle at the same shop can give a different answer next month.
Which sunscreen in your table cost me the least per milliliter?
SKIN1004’s 100 ml Water-Fit Sun Serum, at $0.280 per milliliter at list and $0.210 at the discounted price. That is a ranking inside the 14 listings I priced at Jolse on 30 July 2026, not a claim about every Korean sunscreen on sale anywhere.
Should I just buy the biggest bottle, then?
Only if you’ll finish it. The 100 ml Water-Fit is 30 percent cheaper per milliliter than the 50 ml of the same serum, and a two-pack of Isntree Watery Sun Gel is about 20 percent cheaper per milliliter than two singles. Both savings vanish if the bottle passes its date first.
Why am I seeing a different price than the one in your table?
Because a price is a snapshot. Mine were read at one retailer on 30 July 2026, and the discounts at that shop alone ran from 15 to 42 percent on the same day. Our budget guide read the same bottles at a different retailer twelve days earlier and got different numbers, which is the honest state of things rather than a contradiction.
Can I compare a sun stick to a tube on price per ml?
Not directly. Sticks are sold by weight, in grams, and converting grams to milliliters needs the density of the formula, which these labels don’t print. Three of the 18 listings we opened were priced by weight, including one ordinary tube, so I left them unpriced rather than estimate.
