d’Alba Waterfull Sunscreen Review: Korean and US Labels, Side by Side

d’Alba sells its Waterfull sunscreens in two kinds of tube. The ones in the photos on d’Alba’s global shop say “Broad Spectrum SPF 50+”. The ones Olive Young sells in Korea are labelled SPF50+ PA++++. The name and the look match, but the UV filters don’t. On 14 October 2026 we read the full ingredient list Olive Young Korea prints for eight d’Alba sunscreens, and the Drug Facts on four US labels published in DailyMed. This Waterfull sunscreen review is built from those labels.

The short version: The Korean Waterfull Essence lists five UV filters, including Uvinul A Plus and ethylhexyl triazone.[1] The US label that matches the global shop’s Essence lists homosalate 9%, octocrylene 7%, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate 7%, ethylhexyl salicylate 4.5% and avobenzone 2.7%.[9] The Korean Mild’s only listed filter is titanium dioxide; the US Mild lists zinc oxide 19%.[4][10] And every one of the eight Korean lists we read includes essential oils or added fragrance.[1-8]

How we read the labels

  1. Korean store lists. Olive Young prints each product’s full ingredient list under a heading that translates as “all ingredients that must be listed under the Cosmetics Act”. We read that panel for eight d’Alba sunscreens on 14 October 2026. Where a page sells a duo set, we checked that its list matched the single tube’s.
  2. US drug labels. Sunscreens sold in the US are over-the-counter drugs, so their labels carry a Drug Facts box with each active ingredient and its percentage. We read four d’Alba labels in DailyMed: three dated 2024 and 2025, and one updated on 27 August 2026.[9-12]
  3. The global shop. We compared those labels with the “full ingredient list” on three product pages of d’Alba’s global shop.[13][14][15]

We haven’t worn these sunscreens. The Korean reactions below are quoted from Korean reviewers, and each one comes with the post it’s from.

Korean vs US labels, side by side

Waterfull MildTitanium dioxide[4]Zinc oxide 19%[10]
Waterfull Tone-up (purple)Titanium dioxide, Uvinul A Plus, Polysilicone-15, ethylhexyl triazone[3]We didn’t find a US label for it

The labels show three things.

  • The Korean tubes use filters the US labels never list. Uvinul A Plus, ethylhexyl triazone, diethylhexyl butamido triazone and Polysilicone-15 appear on the Korean lists and on none of the four US labels. We explain the rules behind that in our look at Korean sunscreens sold in American formulas, and Uvinul A Plus vs avobenzone covers the UVA side.
  • The Korean and US Milds list different minerals. In Korea it is a titanium dioxide sunscreen. The US label lists zinc oxide 19% and no titanium dioxide.[4][10]
  • The pink has a new name on the newest US label, with the same actives. On the 2024 tube it is a “Tone-Up” with “Broad Spectrum SPF 50+”.[11] On the label updated on 27 August 2026 it is a “Glow-Tint” with “Broad Spectrum SPF 50”, and the four actives and their percentages are the same, with octinoxate and octisalate under their US names.[11][12] The 2026 label names Kolmar Korea as the manufacturer, and Olive Young Korea lists Kolmar for the Korean pink too.[2]

On d’Alba’s global shop, each of the three product pages has a section called “full ingredient list”, and none of them names a UV filter. They match the inactive-ingredient lists on the US labels item for item and in the same order, so the active ingredients are missing from the page.[13][14][15]

What the front of each tube says

  • US-format tube: the front says “Broad Spectrum” with an SPF number, calls the product a sunscreen and shows no PA rating. The three tubes pictured on the global shop say “SPF 50+” and “sunscreen”;[13][14][15] the 2026 pink says “SPF 50” and “Face Sunscreen”.[12] The back carries a Drug Facts box listing each active ingredient with its percentage.[9-12] The 2026 pink label also gives a US contact for reporting a serious adverse event: Dalba USA Corp. in Dover, Delaware.[12]
  • Korean tube: the front says “SPF 50+ PA++++” and “sun cream”.[16][17][18] On the Essence the small print differs too: the Korean tube says “whitening & anti-wrinkle”, and the US-format tube says “aging care & deep hydration”.[13][16]

In an English review, the SPF line on the tube in the photo tells you which version the reviewer had.

The four Waterfull picks

Waterfull Essence Sun Cream (Korea)

The Essence is the only one of the four with no mineral filter. Its 46-ingredient Korean list puts ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate second and homosalate third, then ethylhexyl salicylate (5th), Uvinul A Plus (6th) and ethylhexyl triazone (8th).[1] Niacinamide is ninth. Benzotriazolyl dodecyl p-cresol is tenth; we don’t count it as a filter, the same way our other reviews handle it.

Two INCIDecoder uploads from 2021 list alcohol fourth.[20][21] The list Olive Young Korea prints now has no alcohol, and a 2022 INCIDecoder upload matches it item for item.[19] If you’re avoiding alcohol, check which version you’re reading. Its fragrance materials are orange oil (22nd), mandarin peel oil (23rd) and litsea cubeba fruit oil (25th), with limonene and citral at the end of the list.[1]

Waterfull Tone-up Sun Cream, pink (Korea)

The pink is a hybrid. Titanium dioxide is fourth on its 62-ingredient list, followed by three organic filters: Uvinul A Plus (7th), ethylhexyl triazone (9th) and diethylhexyl butamido triazone (12th), also sold as Uvasorb HEB.[2] The pink tint comes from yellow and red iron oxides, 59th and 60th of 62. Niacinamide is tenth.

Iron oxides are the pigments our tinted sunscreen guide looks at for visible light. This far down the list, treat the pink as a tone-up first. A reviewer who first got the Waterfull tone-up as a gift from a friend, liked it and bought it, compared the pink with the purple:

Waterfull Tone-up Sun Cream, purple (Korea)

The purple has the same four filters our tinted guide listed: titanium dioxide (5th), Uvinul A Plus (8th), Polysilicone-15 (9th) and ethylhexyl triazone (12th), on a 66-ingredient list.[3] Butyloctyl salicylate is third; INCIDecoder files it under solvents, not UV filters.[22] The purple comes from ultramarines, with no iron oxides, and the list also includes niacinamide (10th) and glutathione.

Its list has the same three fragrant oils as the pink and the Essence, plus lavender flower extract. From a Korean reviewer who bought it in an Olive Young sale and has used it since last winter:

Waterfull Mild Sun Cream (Korea)

The Korean tube says “100% mineral filter”, and the list has one UV filter, titanium dioxide, third of 58 ingredients.[4][18] Benzotriazolyl dodecyl p-cresol is fourth, and as with the Essence we don’t count it. It’s the only one of the four Korean tubes without niacinamide on the list.

It isn’t the scent-free option, though. Orange, mandarin peel, litsea cubeba and ylang ylang flower oils are all on the list, with limonene and citral last.[4] The US Mild lists zinc oxide 19% instead of titanium dioxide, so if you need one mineral or the other, check which version you’re buying.[10] For mineral-only alternatives, see our best Korean mineral sunscreens. A Korean reviewer bought it from d’Alba’s official store on Naver and wrote:

The rest of the Korean line

We also read Olive Young Korea’s lists for four more d’Alba sunscreens on the same day.[5-8]

ProductUV filtersWhat else stands out on the list
Green tone-up[5]Titanium dioxide, Uvinul A Plus, Polysilicone-15, ethylhexyl triazoneRetinal (72nd of 76), chromium oxide greens, nine essential oils
Blue tone-up[6]Titanium dioxide, Polysilicone-15, Uvinul A Plus, ethylhexyl triazone3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid (54th of 76), ultramarines, fragrance listed as fragrance
Natural cover beige[7]Titanium dioxide, Uvinul A Plus, ethylhexyl triazone, bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazineTwo shades; iron oxides; bakuchiol; made by Cosmecca Korea rather than Kolmar
Vita capsule anti-aging[8]Ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, homosalate, ethylhexyl salicylate, Uvinul A Plus, ethylhexyl triazoneThe Olive Young list prints amounts for seven ingredients, including collagen water 520,000 ppm, panthenol 30,000 ppm, niacinamide 20,000 ppm and ascorbic acid 0.48 ppb

In the vita capsule, ascorbic acid at 0.48 parts per billion is a trace, not a vitamin C dose, whatever the name suggests. Bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine in the beige is Tinosorb S, or bemotrizinol, which the FDA added to its list of permitted sunscreen active ingredients on 9 June 2026.[23] Our bemotrizinol explainer covers that change.

Fragrance in all eight Korean lists

All eight Korean lists include fragrance materials. Seven list essential oils, most often orange oil, mandarin peel oil and litsea cubeba fruit oil, and the blue lists fragrance (향료) instead.[1-8] The US lists on the global shop include orange oil, mandarin peel oil and litsea cubeba fruit oil too.[13][14][15] If scent bothers your skin, start with our fragrance-free Korean sunscreens instead.

Which Waterfull sunscreen to choose

  • You want no mineral filter: the Essence is the only one of the four without titanium dioxide.
  • You want a tone-up: the pink has iron oxides, the purple has ultramarines. Our guide to Korean tinted sunscreens covers the difference: iron oxides are the pigments studied for visible light, and ultramarines correct your complexion.
  • You want a mineral filter: the Korean Mild is titanium dioxide and the US Mild is zinc oxide, so check the label you’re actually buying.
  • You avoid niacinamide: the Korean Mild is the only one of the four without it.
  • You avoid fragrance: none of these.

FAQ

Does the US d’Alba Waterfull have the same filters as the Korean tube?

Not on the labels we read. The US Essence label lists homosalate, octocrylene, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, ethylhexyl salicylate and avobenzone, while the Korean Essence uses Uvinul A Plus and ethylhexyl triazone alongside three of those. The US Mild lists zinc oxide, and the Korean Mild lists titanium dioxide.

Is d’Alba Waterfull Mild a mineral sunscreen?

Both versions list a single mineral filter, but not the same one. The Korean Mild lists titanium dioxide, third of 58 ingredients. The US Mild label lists zinc oxide 19%.

What’s the difference between the pink and purple d’Alba tone-up?

The pink is tinted with iron oxides and the purple with ultramarines. Both pair titanium dioxide with Uvinul A Plus and ethylhexyl triazone, then the pink adds diethylhexyl butamido triazone and the purple adds Polysilicone-15.

Do d’Alba sunscreens contain fragrance?

All eight Korean lists we read include fragrance materials: essential oils in seven, and fragrance listed as such in the blue tone-up. The US lists on d’Alba’s global shop include orange, mandarin peel and litsea cubeba oils as well.
