Every Bemotrizinol Sunscreen You Can Buy in the US Right Now (2026)

The FDA added bemotrizinol to its sunscreen monograph on June 10, 2026, and the order took effect on August 9. We covered what changed on that date and why it matters. But none of that answers the question people actually search for: which bemotrizinol sunscreen can I buy right now?
We searched the FDA’s DailyMed database for every product that lists bemotrizinol as an active ingredient and found 20 entries. Four are new US products filed after the order. The rest are Korean and Canadian formulations that have used the filter for years. Here is the full list, with the exact percentages from each Drug Facts label.
The short version: Four new US sunscreens contain bemotrizinol. Neutrogena filed two products at 6 percent, the maximum the order allows. Ultra Violette launched the first one on shelves at 5 percent. And one product, a Kiehl’s sunscreen, has been using bemotrizinol at 0.5 percent since 2017, years before the monograph change, under a separate approval. Korean sunscreens have used the same molecule under the name Tinosorb S for over a decade. None of this means your current sunscreen is obsolete. It means one more filter is now available in the US.
The first wave: every new US bemotrizinol sunscreen on DailyMed
These are the products filed on DailyMed after the FDA’s August 9 effective date, using the OTC monograph pathway. Each row comes straight from the Drug Facts label on the filing.

Marketing start date is when DailyMed says the product may be lawfully sold, not when it shipped to stores. Ultra Violette Unblock Screen went on sale at ultraviolettespf.com on August 31 and reaches Sephora stores on October 2.[5] Ultra Violette says Fave Screen ships in January 2027.[5] We have not confirmed a ship date for either Neutrogena product.
Neutrogena goes to 6 percent
Kenvue, the company behind Neutrogena, filed both products with bemotrizinol at 6 percent, the maximum concentration the FDA’s order allows.[6] Both share the same four-filter formula: avobenzone at 3 percent, bemotrizinol at 6 percent, homosalate at 15 percent, and octisalate at 5 percent.[1][2]
The difference between the two is the target: Ultra Sheer Daily Face is a general-purpose SPF 70, while Clear Face is aimed at acne-prone skin at SPF 60. Both were filed on the same day, August 13, four days after the order took effect.
What the formula tells you: bemotrizinol here is paired with avobenzone for UVA coverage and homosalate plus octisalate for UVB. Bemotrizinol itself is a broad-spectrum filter that covers both UVA and UVB, so the combined coverage is layered. The 6 percent is worth noting because Ultra Violette chose 5 percent instead, and the Korean products that have used it for years typically sit between 1 and 5 percent.
Ultra Violette: the first one actually on shelves
Ultra Violette, an Australian brand, was the first to sell a bemotrizinol sunscreen in the United States. Unblock Screen SPF 50 went on sale August 31 at ultraviolettespf.com and on Sephora.com, with Sephora stores following on October 2.[5] It retails for $40.
Unblock Screen is a hybrid formula: bemotrizinol plus zinc oxide. The DailyMed filing confirms two actives but does not list percentages for this product.[3] Ultra Violette’s press release states 5 percent bemotrizinol.[5]
The second product, Fave Screen SPF 50, is already on DailyMed with a September 1, 2026 marketing start and a three-filter formula: avobenzone 3 percent, bemotrizinol 5 percent, and octisalate 5 percent.[4] Ultra Violette says it ships in January 2027 with added niacinamide and vitamins C and E.[5]
L’Oreal had bemotrizinol since 2017
This is the finding most coverage misses. Kiehl’s Dermatologist Solutions Ultra Light Daily UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 50, a L’Oreal product, lists bemotrizinol among its six active ingredients at 0.5 percent. Its DailyMed marketing start date is December 1, 2017.[7]
That is not a typo. L’Oreal obtained an individual drug application (NDA) for its sunscreen formulations years ago, a separate path from the OTC monograph that DSM-Firmenich’s 2026 order uses. The Kiehl’s formula also includes ecamsule (Mexoryl SX) at 12 percent and drometrizole trisiloxane (Mexoryl XL) at 4 percent, both of which are L’Oreal-proprietary filters approved through the same NDA route.[7]
The practical difference: the monograph pathway lets any brand use bemotrizinol up to 6 percent. The NDA pathway gave L’Oreal permission for its specific formulas only. The 2026 monograph change did not create bemotrizinol access from scratch. It widened it from one company’s approved formulas to any company willing to license the ingredient from DSM-Firmenich during the 18-month exclusivity window.
L’Oreal also sells three Garnier Ombrelle sunscreens with bemotrizinol on DailyMed, but those are Canadian formulations.[8] Canada approved bemotrizinol earlier than the US, and Ombrelle is a Canadian brand.
Korean sunscreens that already use bemotrizinol
The molecule Americans know as bemotrizinol has been in Korean sunscreens for years under the name Tinosorb S. On an ingredient list, it reads as bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine, which is the same compound regardless of the trade name.
DailyMed lists 10 Korean and Asian products with bemotrizinol in the active ingredients, including three from LG Household and Healthcare (OHUI and The History of Whoo brands).[9] Among the Korean sunscreens we have reviewed, the following confirmed Tinosorb S in their ingredient lists:
- SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum, one of the most popular Korean sun serums, uses Tinosorb S as part of a five-filter stack.
- Cell Fusion C Aquatica Sunscreen, which we compared to its US-reformulated version at Sephora, includes Tinosorb S alongside Mexoryl SX and Uvinul A Plus.
- Abib Quick Sunstick combines Tinosorb S with Uvinul A Plus and three other filters.
None of these Korean formulas can be legally sold in the US as sunscreens because they contain other filters the FDA has not approved, not because of bemotrizinol. We covered the full list of filter differences between Korean and US formulas in our US version comparison.
What to look for on the label
If you want to know whether a US sunscreen contains bemotrizinol, read the Drug Facts panel on the back of the tube. Look for one of these:
- Active ingredient: Bemotrizinol, followed by a percentage. This is the monograph name the FDA uses.
- On a full ingredient list (not the Drug Facts box), the INCI name is bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine.
- Trade names in press releases and industry materials include Parsol Shield (DSM-Firmenich) and Tinosorb S (BASF). Neither appears on consumer labels.
A product that lists bemotrizinol among its active ingredients passed the FDA’s conditions: up to 6 percent concentration, SPF of at least 2, no combination with PABA or trolamine salicylate, and one of nine permitted formats.[6] We walked through each condition in our effective date explainer.

Can I buy a bemotrizinol sunscreen in the US right now?
Yes. Ultra Violette Unblock Screen SPF 50 went on sale August 31, 2026, at ultraviolettespf.com and Sephora.com, and it reaches Sephora stores on October 2.[5] Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50, which contains 0.5 percent bemotrizinol, has been available since 2017.[7] Neutrogena filed two products at 6 percent on DailyMed, but we have not confirmed they have shipped to stores.
Is 6 percent bemotrizinol safe?
The FDA’s final order concluded that there is adequate evidence of safety and efficacy for bemotrizinol at up to 6 percent for adults and children 6 months of age and older.[6] Bemotrizinol has been used in sunscreens outside the US for over two decades at similar concentrations.
Is bemotrizinol the same as Tinosorb S?
Yes. Bemotrizinol is the active ingredient name used in the US. Tinosorb S is a trade name used by BASF. Parsol Shield is the trade name used by DSM-Firmenich. The INCI name is bis-ethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine. All refer to the same molecule.
Will my Korean sunscreen change now that bemotrizinol is approved in the US?
Probably not in the short term. Korean sunscreens sold in the US are reformulated to meet FDA rules, and the reformulation involves more than just bemotrizinol. Many of the modern filters in Korean formulas, including Uvinul A Plus, Uvinul T 150, and Mexoryl SX, remain unapproved under the US monograph. Adding bemotrizinol alone does not make a Korean formula legal for US sale.
